We’ve got another Netgear router to take a look at, it’s the Inside the Netgear DG834 v2 Wireless ADSL Firewall Router which is a similar product to the RP614 except it has wireless.

Looks like this is a AR7 Chip which seems to control the ADSL side of things according to this link.

Appears to be a 128 Mbit SDRAM according to the PDF. Seems to be quite a bit for just a router.

Hi I just pulled one of these apart that seems to have been toasted at some point, it still runs but drops out after a while of running needing regular reboots, I was just wondering what I could do with the parts? I play a little with electronics and like you want to learn more.
Hi, do the caps look bad or have you used a different power adapter?
For things to do with the parts – you could try accessing the RAM/Flash with your own MCU – having 128Mbit RAM or a 32Mbit Flash seems like it would interesting to try out (maybe there are some small EEPROMs around too). You could also practice your soldering skills by de-soldering the various chips on the board and then re-soldering them.
